The Sims (now also refered to as The Sims 1 or TS1) is a strategy/simulation game in which neighborhoods, lots and Sims are created and interacted with by the player. The main focus of the game is to keep the average moods of any Sim high, while fulfilling goals, making money, and a whole raft of other things to keep you and your Sims occupied. The goals in your Sims' lives were an aspect Maxis really built on in The Sims 2, with Wants, Fears and Aspirations - whereas in The Sims, a Sim will be content to go to work, eat and sleep until they die, provided, however, their Plumbob stays green.
