Burglars are nasty fellows who have first made their appearance as a "Unknown Naughty Sim" in the original Sims. Just like in Sims, to capture the scoundrel, you can buy a burglar alarm or use a phone to alert the police. Now in The Sims 2 burglars are townies and you can also prevent them with a Sentrybot from The Sims 2 Open For Business.
Police would attack the burglar, even if the burglar wins the fight, they still get caught. When the burglar goes in the car, you can set them free, but not get a reward. After, releasing the burglar you get a chance to socialize with he/she.
